Performed at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music in 2025. PC Mark Lyons.

Emilia is a play based on the powerful true story of a feminist writer, and woman of color who lived in Elizabethan England. She was only permitted to write religious text and would include hidden messages in her work with practical instructions for women to keep their money, independence, and free thinking. She was rumored to be the ‘dark lady’ who is mentioned in a series of sonnets written by William Shakespeare. The play is written with the part of Emilia broken into 3 roles throughout 3 stages of her life.
